Plaque unveiling in celebration of Dr. Wesley Dunn

Faculty, staff and community members came together earlier this month to celebrate the founding Dean of Dentistry at Western University. On Saturday, October 1, a glass plaque honouring Dr. Dunn was unveiled in the waiting room of the Main Adult Dental Clinic.

Throughout his career at Western, Dr. Dunn was active in the Canadian and Ontario Dental Association and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, influencing education and practice across the country.

An active Professor Emeritus, Dr. Dunn was previously awarded Western’s Alumni Association Award of merit and was conferred an honorary degree from Western in 2009 in recognition of remarkable contributions to the School and to the profession of Dentistry.

In 1965, Dr. Wesley J. Dunn, founding dean of Dentistry, established Ontario’s second dental school. For more than 17 years, Dr. Dunn mentored students and applicants and helmed a School that earned a reputation for educating highly skilled and caring dental professionals.

Dr. Dunn remains a highly respected role model, and his former colleagues, students and friends are unanimous in their high praise for his character and kind, caring manner.

This plaque is dedicated to Dr. Dunn and recognizes his service to the dental profession and his patients and students.
