Dr. Florendo-Cumbermack has a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Guyana (2001). She completed her neurology residency at the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in 2014. She attained her Masters of Health Professions Education from Maastricht University in 2016 and completed a Clinical Fellowship in Neuromuscular Disorders at the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in 2016. Dr. Florendo-Cumbermack joined the Department as an Adjunct Professor in 2016.
She is a member of the Ontario Medical Association, the Canadian Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology and the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a former member of the World Muscle Society.
Dr. Florendo-Cumbermack is currently conducting medical education research on learner anxiety and clinical behaviour with Dr. Chris Watling and the experience of neurology and physiatry residents in clinical electromyography training with Dr. Venance, researchers from Western University and researchers from UBC.
Dr. Florendo-Cumbermack's medical interests are in neuromuscular diseases including muscular dystrophy.
