A reception was held on 19 Jan 2018 for Dr. David Litchfield, Vice Dean of Research & Innovation at Schulich, to thank him for his contributions as Chair of Biochemistry from 2007-17.

A new award has been named in his honour: “The D. W. Litchfield Undergraduate Biochemistry Award” for BIOC 3381 and 3382.  It is to be awarded annually to a Biochemistry Honors Specialization Student with the highest combined average in Biochemistry 3381 (Biological Macromolecules) and Biochemistry 3382 (Biochemical Regulation).

The picture shows Dr. Litchfield cutting cake (left panel) and holding his award and the Department's gift to him--a canoe paddle for his journeys in Algonquin Park and elsewhere (right panel). The middle panel shows Dr. David Edgell, Acting Chair of Biochemistry (on right), presenting the award to Dr. Litchfield. Photos are courtesy of Drs. David Rodenhiser and Bogumil Karas.

Congratulations and thank you to Dr. Litchfield for his leadership, dedication, and generosity during his term as Chair of Biochemistry.
