Dr. Jacob Aguirre-Butcher receives Zaharia Award
Congratulations to Dr. Jacob Aguirre-Butcher, supervised by Dr. Gary Shaw, for receiving the Dr. William Zaharia Award for 2017. Jacob’s thesis is titled “Elucidating a Mechanism for the Activation of Parkin”, and he completed his PhD in just over 4.5 years. He was the recipient of two OGS scholarships (1 declined) and a Parkinson’s Studentship.
This award is for excellence in the Department of Biochemistry Graduate Program, and is in memory of Dr. William Zaharia (1926-1972), “a meticulous, exacting, and critical scientist.”
