Biochem vs. MNI Car Challenge

The Great Car Challenge between the Dept. of Biochemistry and the Dept. of Microbiology and Immunology (MNI) took place on 5 May 2017 at 11:02 am in the tunnel connecting Siebens Drake Research Institute and the Dental Sciences Building.

The Junop lab's entry, powered by Chris Brown, provided awesome special effects and travelled a few inches.

The Litchfield lab's entry, powered by Dr. Laszlo Gyenis, travelled a few feet.

One of MNI's entries travelled a third of the tunnel.

The other MNI entry looked like a simple spool, but actually travelled the full length of the tunnel! Congrats to the winner who received the 'purple finger' grand prize.

However, Biochemistry's entry from the Litchfield lab did win the 'best decorated and original' prize - which is a giant inflatable moose head and was attached to Dr. Litchfield's office door for a few hours!

Thanks to our car designers and to everyone who came out to support the event.
