The care and clinical outcomes of patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) depend not only on technical knowledge and skill level of the surgical team, but also on the skills and knowledge of the anesthesiologist. Specifically, as Stragier et al. show in this issue of the Journal, the choice of anesthesia for TAVR could be a relevant factor determining important outcomes such as length of stay in the intensive care unit and in the hospital.
