Award: Schulich Dentistry student - Natalie Rubinger named 2021 recipient of dentalcorp Academic Excellence Award

Natalie Rubinger, Dentistry Class of 2021, was honoured with a 2021 Academic Excellence Award from dentalcorp. As part of the award, dentalcorp will reimburse the cost of Rubinger’s tuition for the DDS program, as well as offer her a two-year contract at a dentalcorp practice.

Rubinger was selected for the award based on her academic achievement, as well as extracurricular involvement and passion for the dental profession. During the course of her degree, she maintained her position on the Dean’s Honour List in all years of study. She has also made a significant impact as the co-president of the Western’s Alpha Omega dental fraternity, which experienced a 150 per cent increase in membership during her tenure. In her final two years of study, Rubinger was also active in peer mentoring at the School.

“Helping to cultivate a collaborative and dynamic community of students and mentors has been so rewarding and is something I look forward to continuing in my professional career,” she shared.

Prior to enrolling in the DDS program, Rubinger earned a Master of Science degree in Global Health Systems, lending her a unique perspective and skill set to drive community involvement both at the School and within her future career.

dentalcorp selects three Academic Excellence Award recipients annually, each Canadian students completing DDS or DMD, Dental Hygiene and Dental Assistant programs. According to dentalcorp, award recipients must fulfill the academic and extracurricular criteria, as well as embody the values of “integrity, innovation, collaboration and excellence.”
