Announcement: Jefferson Frisbee, PhD, re-appointed as Chair, Department of Medical Biophysics

We are pleased to announce that Jefferson Frisbee, PhD, has been re-appointed as Chair, Department of Medical Biophysics, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, effective July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2026.

Dr. Frisbee completed his PhD in Biophysics (Physiology) at the University of Guelph in 1996. He subsequently completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Washington in Cardiovascular Bioengineering, and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Microcirculatory Physiology.

Prior to his appointment at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, Dr. Frisbee worked as a tenured Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine. He also served as a Director for the WVU Center for Cardiovascular and Respiratory Sciences, as well as a Member of the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.

In 2016, Dr. Frisbee joined Schulich Medicine & Dentistry as Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Biophysics. He has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Microcirculation journal, and President of the Microcirculatory Society. Dr. Frisbee has extensive experience on Study Sections for the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.   

Dr. Frisbee is an internationally renowned scholar with career accomplishments encompassing more than 350 publications, peer-reviewed manuscripts, dissertations and abstracts.
