Announcement: Cheryle Séguin, PhD, will be serving as Interim Chair for the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology

Effective February 1, 2020, Cheryle Séguin, PhD, will be serving as Interim Chair for the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University for the duration of Dr. Frank Beier’s leave.

Dr. Séguin obtained her bachelor of science in 1999 and her master of science in 2001 from the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Western University. She earned a PhD from the University of Toronto in 2005, followed by postdoctoral training at SickKids Hospital in Toronto. In 2009, Dr. Séguin joined the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Western University.

Dr. Séguin’s research focuses on understanding the pathways that regulate the fate and function of cells within the intervertebral disc, relevant to common spine pathologies. She is the recipient of the Canadian Arthritis Network Scholar Award (2009-2013), the CIHR New Investigator Award (2014-2019) and the Arthritis Society Career Development Award (2020-2025).
