Applied Indigenous Scholarship: Fostering Cultural Competency

During the consultative process for Western University’s forthcoming Indigenous Strategic Plan, the Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Committee undertook focus groups and sharing circles with various communities across campus.  Despite the diversity of voices and perspectives represented in these meetings – undergraduate students, faculty, administrators – a key resonating message related to the significant need and desire for cultural competency training on campus. Many of the IDI’s activities will respond to this request.
