First-year resident Dr. Daniel Pepe receives Dr. Murray Girotti Resident Teaching Award

Dr. Daniel Pepe, a first-year resident in the Division of General Surgery, received the Dr. Murray Girotti Resident Teaching Award at the Department of Surgery’s annual Departmental Resident Celebration event on June 22.

The award, which is held by the London Health Sciences Foundation, consists of a certificate and a monetary value of $1,000. It was established to honour Dr. Murray Girotti, a member of the Division of General Surgery who passed away in 2010. Dr. Girotti was passionate about medicine and went above and beyond with his dedication to teaching medical students.

At the end of each rotation, medical students are asked to submit the name of a resident who has influenced them most and provided them with exceptional teaching. Dr. Pepe received the greatest number of nominations, making him the 2015 recipient of the award.

Congratulations to Dr. Pepe on receiving this honour.
