COVID-19 Information for Residency Programs - Week of April 27

PGME Deans met this week and agreed to begin accepting and scheduling electives between Universities as of July 1, 2020. As of July 1, electives at other sites and centres outside of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry can resume. This is predicated on the following requirements:

  1. The host university/site agrees to accept the resident.
  2. The home university allows the resident to travel.
  3. There is capacity and clinical learning opportunities at the host university/site, including adequate PPE as required by the host site.
  4. Self-isolation may be required by the host university/hospital – this would have to be taken into consideration in arranging the elective.
  5. Electives that are scheduled for July onwards should be considered provisional at this time – in case the pandemic environment changes, or requirements for the elective cannot be met.
