COMMUNITY INFORMATION

SWOMEN Community - WinghamThe Town of Wingham, along with the village of Blyth and the former township of East Wawanosh, constitute the Township of North Huron. The township has a population of 4,984 and is located about one and a half hours north of London.
Agriculture and industry are supported by excellent schools, recreational facilities and a busy municipal airport. Award winning golf courses, theatres and fine dining experiences are all available in our community. A community complex housing a new ice surface, large indoor pool, fitness centre, squash courts and family programming, provides activities to nurture community spirit.

HOSPITAL INFORMATION

SWOMEN Community - WinghamThe Wingham and District Hospital as part of the Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage. Hospital services include:

  • Modern emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
  • Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology and social services
  • Over twenty specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
  • Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally
  • Many community health related education programs
  • Hospital based ambulance service providing paramedic services including defibrillation
  • Access to Medivac system with airport. Emergency air ambulance service available
