Dr. Muriel Brackstone is selected as the 2018 James IV Association of Surgeons Traveler

Congratulations to Dr. Muriel Brackstone, Associate Professor, Division of General Surgery, on being selected as the James IV Association of Surgeons Traveler for 2018. Dr. Brackstone is planning trips to Europe, Israel and the United States to develop her research program for the treatment of breast cancer.

The James IV Association of Surgeons was established in 1957 to promote surgical collaboration across the Atlantic by awarding fellowships for young surgeons to visit other departments. Department members, Drs. Chris Schlachta and Vivian McAlister are directors of the James IV Association of Surgeons (Canada). The traveling fellowship is a prestigious award with only one being available in Canada each year. Previous winners from Western include Drs. Angus McLachlin, John Duff, Ken Harris and Vivian McAlister. Drs. Chris Schlachta and Ken Leslie nominated Dr Brackstone for the fellowship.
