Call for applications- Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is seeking applications for the position of Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education, to be effective September 1, 2011.

The Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education will provide leadership and strive for excellence in all aspects of undergraduate medical education. The major responsibility of the position is the continuing development and implementation of undergraduate curriculum and clinical teaching at all Schulich sites. This person will work collaboratively with the Decanal team and report to the Vice Dean, Education. Additionally, the incumbent will be Schulich Medicine & Dentistry's representative to organizations such as the Council of Ontario Faculties of Medicine (COFM) and Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC). The successful candidate will serve as a representative for Schulich Medicine & Dentistry on any Committee pertaining to Undergraduate Medical Education as needed.

Candidates will have demonstrated leadership in medical education, a track record of education scholarship and administrative experience. Sensitivity and diplomacy in recognizing and responding to issues relevant to undergraduate medical students is essential. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to communicate, collaborate, negotiate and facilitate in complex environments.

The successful candidate will be a physician with certification by either the CFPC or RCPSC and experience in undergraduate medical education leadership would be an asset. In addition, applicants must hold an academic appointment in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

It is anticipated this role will require a time commitment of three days per week for a five-year renewable term.
