The Dean's Office, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry; London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC); St. Joseph's Health Care London (St. Joseph's); Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH); and Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital (HDGH) are seeking applications for the position of Vice-Dean, Hospital & Interfaculty Relations, to be effective July 1, 2011.

The Vice-Dean, Hospital & Interfaculty Relations will facilitate linkages between the Schulich Senior Leadership Council and the senior leadership of the Schuilch School of Medicine & Dentistry partners (The University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Health Sciences, LHSC, St. Joseph's, WRH, HDGH, and Lawson Health Research Institute). This person will work collaboratively with the Assistant Dean, Rural & Regional Medicine to advance the objectives of the distributed medical education program and provide a leadership role in advancing the Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network (SWOMEN). He/ she will also work with the Vice-Dean, Research, Schulich, to advance the research objectives of the School. Additionally, the incumbent will provide representation to organizations and associations such as the Local Health Integration Network and Academic Medical Organization of Southwestern Ontario. The successful incumbent will co-chair the Joint Professional Staff Human Resources Committees and participate in chairing other committees such as the Appointments, Promotion and Tenure Committee. The Vice-Dean, Hospital & Interfaculty Relations will work closely with senior medical and professional staff leaders at partner organizations and hold appointments on their senior leadership groups.

Candidates for the Vice-Dean, Hospital & Interfaculty Relations position will have a superior knowledge of academic and health care environments, including policy development. He/ she will have knowledge of medical education including rural/ regional issues. Experience interfacing between an academic institution and hospitals is preferred. The incumbent must be able to articulate a vision for the Academic Health Sciences Network. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to negotiate, collaborate, communicate, and facilitate in complex environments. Established leadership and team building capacities and a track record of sustained commitment are expected. An understanding of physician remuneration is required.

The successful candidate will preferably be a physician or dentist with privileges in one of primary academic teaching hospitals, including those within the Southwestern Ontario distributed medical education network. The candidate must be able to commit to a 0.8 Full Time Equivalent time allocation for a five-year term, with the option to renew for one term only.
