Health policy research and collaboration - December 10

Faculty and graduate students are invited to attend a half day event dedicated to Health Policy Research and encouraging cross faculty collaborations. The event is co-sponsored by The Health Policy Initiative of Western and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Western faculty members speak on partnerships in programs influencing policy. The three keynote speakers include:

William R. Avison, Faculty of Social Science and Director of the Aging & Health Research Centre, will discuss how collaborative research on family and children's health and well-being stimulated three children's health initiatives in London.

Evelyn Vingilis, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Director of the Population and Community Health Unit, will discuss the Consortium of Applied Research and Evaluation in Mental Health (CAREMH) and other networks of community, government and other partnerships to affect policies, programs and services.

Robert Solomon, Faculty of Law and Director of the Legal Policy for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada), will discuss his collaboration with MADD Canada and attempts to transform Canada's Federal and Provincial Impaired Driving Legislation.

The Keynote speeches will be followed by interest group discussions designed to promote collaborative research. Please bring a research idea.
