Judges needed for Moffat Research Day

Judges are needed for the Margaret Moffat Research Day poster competition. The event is scheduled for March 26, 2009 in Great Hall, from 12:00 - 4:00 pm
In addition to Schulich faculty, postdoctoral fellows are also invited to serve as judges.
Categories for judging include: Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Cell Physiology, Cancer, Cardiovascular, Developmental Biology, Endocrinology, Epidemiology, Imaging, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Physiology, Pathology, Signal Transduction, Toxicology, or Other (please specify).

Career Fair for Medical Students

This is an opportunity for students to review prospective career choices through direct contact with Program Directors, residents and/or displays. There will be a series of formal presentations by the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Education and the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education. A number of current Schulich residents and students will share their experiences with the CaRMS Match. All speakers will take questions.

Dr. Sugantha Ganapathy to receive 2009 YMCA Women of Excellence Award

Sugantha Ganapathy, of the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, has been selected as one of eight recipients of the 2009 YMCA of Western Ontario Women of Excellence Awards. The recipient for science, technology and health, Dr. Ganapathy is recognized for her leadership in the use of ultrasound to manage acute post-operative pain.

Reminder: Schulich Excellence in Education and Dean's Awards of Excellence Nominations

The Nominations for the Schulich Excellence in Education Awards, Dean's Awards of Excellence for faculty and teams, and Dean's Awards of Excellence for staff are due Monday, March 23. Details on the awards and nomination process are available at http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/awards/index.php. The awards will be presented at the annual Celebration of Excellence on May 20, 2009.

Professional Regulation & Discipline Conference

This conference will examine the public interest by looking at the fundamental elements of regulating the profession and governing the practitioners within a regulated profession. These range from defining controlled acts, setting standards of qualification for entry into profession, establishing a process for licensing, and taking action against unlicensed individuals, through to setting standards of practice and ethics, establishing continuing competency requirements, defining misconduct, and establishing a process for dealing with complaints. This conference is designed for Boards, Colleges, Regulatory Bodies, and Associations. Early registration will close on March 6, 1009.
