New Schulich e-bulletin begins

Monday, January 12, 2009

In an effort to reduce the number of emails filling your inbox and provide better communication across the School, the Dean's Office will be introducing a new broadcast email policyas of January 12.

Announcements, event information and other general notices to all faculty, staff and students will be batched into a weekly e- bulletin that will come from a single source (thisweek@schulich.uwo.ca).

While you may still receive selected email messages deemed to be urgent, confidential or to a targeted group on an individual basis, it is hoped this strategy will ensure information is reaching you in an efficient and effective way. The first edition of ThisWeek@Schulich is available below.

Assistant Dean, SWOMEN Rural Regional Steps Down

It is with regret that I announce the departure of Dr. Tom Lacroix from his position as Assistant Dean, SWOMEN Rural Regional, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Dr. Lacroix for his leadership and accomplishments during his four and a half years of service as Assistant Dean, SWOMEN Rural Regional. Tom was instrumental in the establishment of SWOMEN's MedQUEST Program of summer camps for high school students interested in health care careers. Most recently, Tom led the strategic planning process for SWOMEN Rural Regional that established key initiatives for the next three years as Schulich continues its expansion of its rural/regional distributed medical education program.

Dr. Lacroix's dedication and support of the SWOMEN program has been greatly appreciated and will be missed by program staff, preceptors and communities throughout Southwestern Ontario. I am pleased to report that Dr. Lacroix will remain as a SWOMEN preceptor and has generously offered to continue to provide support and guidance to the SWOMEN Rural Regional program.

Please join me in expressing sincere appreciation to Tom for his service to the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. A search committee for the next Assistant Dean, SWOMEN Rural Regional, will be assembled shortly.

Dr. Carol Herbert
Dean
