The new Canadian Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics [CSPT] was launched the last week of July at the IXth World Conference on Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics held in Quebec City. This Society was formed by the merger of the Pharmacological Society of Canada and the Canadian Society of Clinical Pharmacology.

The first two Presidents of the CSPT are members of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry's Department of Physiology and Pharmacology. Dr. James Hammond has been elected as the President for 2008-09, and Dr. Richard Kim will become President for 2009-10.
