Infection and Immunity Research Forum

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is pleased to announce the Second Annual Infection and Immunity Research Forum. This event will be held on November 16, 2007 at University Hospital in Auditorium A. This forum will consist of oral and poster presentations from graduate students/post-doctoral fellows on the subject of infection and immunity.

The Keynote speaker for this year's event will be: Dr. Jonathan Yewdellfrom the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. His research focuses on defining the basic cellular processes involved in the generation of MHC class I peptide ligands and gaining a fundamental understanding of the underlying in vivo cellular events that lead to presentation of viral antigens to CD8+ T cells and the regulation of anti-viral CD8+ T-cell responses.

The keynote talk is entitled: "Virus Induced tRNA Misacylation: A New Innate Immune Mechanism?" (12:00-1pm) Dr. Yewdell will also be giving a career talk entitled: "How to Succeed In Science without Really Trying" (4-5 pm)
