On Friday, February 16th, before the students returned home for reading week, the WPA hosted a “Careers in Pathology” session in collaboration with the SSC (Science Students’ Council). In attendance were 6 staff and faculty members within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and 20 undergraduate students. Within the 2-hour session students rotated between tables consisting of research scientists in viral evolution and bioinformatics, vascular stem cell biology, and yeast genetics, along with an oral pathologist, forensic pathologist, and pathologists’ assistant.

Thank you to all of the staff and faculty members for attending this event and helping us cover a wide array of research and clinical areas within the field of pathology. All of the attendees filled out an evaluation form, and the event was rated a 4.6/5 for overall impression, with several attendees highlighting their enjoyment of the small-scale and intimate discussions. The lasagna lunch in the middle of the session was an added bonus!
