WPA Lecture Series: Katie Moisse

katie

On March 17th, 2017, the WPA welcomed back Pathology alumna, Dr. Katie Moisse, PhD. Katie is currently working as a scientific news editor at Spectrum (New York). Her interactive Science Communications Workshop, titled "Where science meets story-telling", discussed the need for well-written and accurate scientific articles. Katie gave great advice regarding disseminating our research and scientific expertise to the public, conducting media interviews, and speaking with reporters. Several anecdotal stories were offered as well as personal experience of pitfalls in scientific writing and communication through her work as an editor. The workshop was attended by a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students in both clinical and research-based streams. The skills and pointers discussed are expected to be very helpful for upcoming conferences, as well as all forms of scientific discussion. Many thanks to Katie for putting on a great workshop!
