Welcome Dr. Ziad Solh

We are pleased to announce Dr. Ziad Solh has joined our team as a Transfusion Medicine Specialist and Assistant Professor effective October 16, 2017.

Dr. Solh received a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Ottawa. He completed Pediatrics training at Queen’s University and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at McMaster University. Most recently, Dr. Solh completed his Area of Focused Competence (AFC) in Transfusion Medicine at McMaster University.

He received a Hamilton Health Sciences New Investigator Fund operating grant for his work on red cell transfusion-related alloimmunization in children with cancer for which he also received an American Society of Hematology Abstract Achievement Award.

Dr. Solh has clinical and research interests in pediatric hematology and transfusion medicine. Current areas of interest include: premedication practices in transfusion; prophylactic platelet and red cell use in premature neonates, critically ill children, and pediatric palliative care; adverse effects of blood products in children; and translating new knowledge into practice.
