Ronald McDonald House

RMH

On Tuesday, December 6, pathologists, staff and residents from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine went to Ronald McDonald House to prepare dinner for the families in residence at the house. This is the fourth consecutive year of providing this service to families whose loved ones are in hospital undergoing treatment. There is never a shortage of people signing up to help out. In fact, we have to turn volunteers away as the kitchen will accommodate only 10 people at one time. Ronald McDonald House also has a Christmas Room where the parents who are not able to leave the hospital can go and pick out gifts to give to their children Christmas morning. Likewise, the children can go and pick out gifts for their parents. This year our department decided to also raise money for gifts for the Christmas Room. We hosted a bake sale, held a 50/50 draw and received many generous donations. These three events brought in just over $1000.00 in one week! The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is home to many generous and caring people.
