Learning objectives:

  1. Participants will learn about the origins and evolution of a newly discovered antiviral protein called HERC5
  2. Participants will gain a basic understanding of how HIV and Ebola virus replicate and cause disease, and the molecular mechanisms by which HERC5 blocks their replication
  3. Participants will learn about the evolutionary arms race occurring between HERC5 and HIV/Ebola virus, and its implications for disease progression and treatment
