September 01, 2015 On September 1st the Department of Pathology will welcome Dr. Hanxin Lin who has been appointed as a Molecular Geneticist at London Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Lin will hold a faculty appointment in our department at the rank of Assistant Professor.
August 26, 2015 Welcome to Dr. Gerald McKinley who joins our department in a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Dr. McKinley’s primary role will be that of a Medical Anthropologist with the Schulich Interfaculty Program in Public Health.
August 18, 2015 Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) affects approximately 2.5 per cent of the nearly 2.4 million Canadians with diabetes, or approximately 60,000 people, making it a major cause of adult-onset vision loss. It occurs when blood vessels in the retina of diabetic patients become leaky, resulting in unwanted fluid accumulation in the centre of vision known as the macula. This can lead to blindness if untreated.

Dr. Subrata Chakrabarti and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine extend a warm welcome to Dr. Christina McCord, who has been appointed to our department effective July 1, 2015 as an oral pathologist and full-time assistant professor.
June 29, 2015 A new partnership to provide Electron Microscopy diagnostic services has been officially welcomed by Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PaLM) and the Biotron Experimental Climate Change Research Centre at Western University (Biotron).
June 25, 2015 On June 21, 2015, students, staff, and faculty members came together to enjoy a potluck-style BBQ at Gibbon's Park. The weather was perfect and we had an excellent turnout. Stay tuned for future WPA events in the upcoming academic year.
June 24, 2015 On June 17th we had a celebration tea for our graduating Residents and Fellows. We were able to congratulate Drs. Allison Osmond and Fahd Al-Sulfiani who passed their Royal College Exams, as well as, Drs. Chaturika Herath and Amir Salehi who successfully completed their fellowships in Anatomic Pathology. In addition, Dr. Qi Zhang was awarded the Annual Resident Award of Excellence for his contributions to the department. Congratulations to all.
June 22, 2015 Congratulations to Neruja Loganathan (Honors Specialization in Pathology and Toxicology) and Hayley Good (Major in Pathology) for receiving the Gold Medal for 2014-2015. Both Neruja and Hayley achieved the highest average in their respective BMSc Pathology modules.

This meeting was organized by the Department of Pathology, London Health Sciences Centre and the Schulich School of Medicine, in partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
May 06, 2015 On May 4, 2015 the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine held an official opening ceremony of the new Transplant Immunology Laboratory at University Hospital. Dr. QingYong Xu, the newly recruited director for the Transplant Immunology Laboratory was introduced and he led the tour of the new facilities.
February 26, 2015 Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is advertising the annual P.C. Shah Summer Work Experience Scholarship in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
This is an 8 week position, beginning June 15th and ending August 7th, 2015. This is open to all 1st and 2nd year medical students in both London and Windsor. The successful applicant will be located at LHSC, University Campus in London.

February 02, 2015 This semester, registration of the first ever intramural volleyball team was directed by the Western Pathology Association (WPA). Lab coats were cast aside as students took to the courts to showcase their athletic prowess. Participants can be seen in action Monday nights from 8:30-11:30pm at the Student Recreation Centre.
