Paediatric Hospital Medicine

Children's Hospital of Western Ontario (CHWO) serves as a regional resource for infants, children and adolescents in London-Middlesex, southwestern and northwestern Ontario requiring paediatric specialized in and outpatient care. While much of this does and should occur in settings as close to home as possible, from time to time patients and families may require hospitalization within the inpatient units of CHWO. Similar to other Ontario paediatric academic hospitals, CHWO's medical staff have responded to the changing needs of inpatient care by developing and continually improving clinical services, integrated with Western University and community providers. The Paediatric Clinical Teaching Unit at LHSC is a hospital inpatient care unit where paediatric specialists and subspecialists, paediatric residents, medical students and other healthcare providers work together as a multidisciplinary team delivering care in an academic teaching environment.

General Academic Paediatricians are hospital-based general specialists providing paediatric inpatient care to all members of the healthcare team. We strive to deliver quality patient and family-centred care that is evidence-based and socially responsible. Our division contributes to patient care also in quality improvement programs, medical education for health professionals, leadership, scholarly contributions to advance knowledge, and out-patient clinics. Our goal is to support a collaborative model of care, scholarship and education with our colleagues and regional partners.
