Research Overview

Research

In comparison to similar institutions in North America, the Department's research output places it a very strong tier II level - small peer reviewed grants (10-50 K), strong industry grant record, good publication record in mid-quality journals, excellent representation at our national eye meeting - with some metrics that would qualify for tier I activity - hiring of two departmental PhDs, moderate affiliation with established Western PhDs, some Departmental large peer-reviewed grants (Canadian Institute of Health Research), some publications in high-impact journals and an international presence for glaucoma research.

The Department has both clinical, basic science, educational and health economic research divisions.
