This is an exciting time for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. We have amalgamated most of women’s health care to one site at LHSC Victoria campus. We have new facilities and are now looking to the future by realigning our clinical services to provide outstanding patient care in an environment of continuous quality improvement.
We are increasing our clinical work to integrate with community partners and reducing the focus on inpatient care through improvements to ambulatory and community care.
Our educational mission is thriving under the energetic leadership in undergraduate medical education, postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology and the subspecialties in Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Maternal Fetal Medicine. Our educational sites involve many small to moderate sized communities in the South West providing a rich clinical experience for all levels of trainees.
In collaboration with our affiliated research institutes at Children’s Health Research Institute and Lawson Health Research Institute, a wide range of research is ongoing with particular focus on fetal development, adult origins of adult disease, reproductive health and ovarian cancer.
The next year’s focus is to build on our strengths and contribute to the educational and research advances in women’s health nationally and internationally.
