Visiting Professor - Dr. Jean M. Seely

Dr. Jean Seely is head of breast imaging at the Ottawa Hospital in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. She was born and raised in Montreal, graduating from McGill Medical School in 1989. She completed her rotating internship at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver in 1990 and residency in radiology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in 1995. Her fellowships were in pediatric radiology at the B.C. Children’s Hospital, thoracic radiology with Dr. Nestor Muller in 1996, and thoracic radiology with Dr. Eric Effman at the Seattle Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington in 1997. Jean worked in Seattle, Washington at Group Health Cooperative from 1997-2001, where she also trained in breast MRI with Bruce Porter. In 2001, she returned to Canada to work as a chest and breast radiologist at the Ottawa Hospital and Women’s Breast Health Center. She began the breast MRI program at the Ottawa Hospital in 2001. Jean is associate professor with the University of Ottawa, regularly teaching residents and medical students in Ottawa, as well as at meetings nationally and internationally, in breast imaging and chest disease. Jean is interested in research and has published in the fields of chest and breast radiology, she has written chapters on pleural disease and chest intervention, and review articles on breast MRI.
