How often do I need to check my schedule?
Changes to the schedule happen frequently because our faculty are also physicians. You are responsible for checking your calendar online DAILY for updates. If a change occurs with less than 24 hours notice or, on the day of class, then you will either receive an email notification of the change or a UME staff member will communicate the urgent change to the class. Changes to the schedule with more than 24 hours notice will be updated on one45.

What is the difference between an Independent Learning Session and an Independent Learning (Web) Session in one45?
Independent Learning is time in the schedule that you can use to catch up on reading, work on assignments and other activities. Essentially it is free time for you to choose what you like to do with it. Independent Learning (Web) sessions are session that you are required to complete on your own. The “web” in brackets directs you that you need to go to Web CT OWL for more information. These sessions can vary; they can be quizzes, required reading, online modules etc. They are scheduled on specific days so that you will either be prepared for an upcoming class or have already had a class and this is additional information that a lecturer requires of you. Since everyone’s pace of learning is different, these sessions are generally scheduled from 11:30am-11:30pm or from 4:30pm-11:30pm. While you may begin working on the material anytime you are expected to have completed this material before your next session, unless otherwise instructed in Web CT OWL.
Where do I look to find my course materials and notes?
All course materials are posted on OWL. You can access this from the Undergraduate Medicine Education Home Page http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/medicine/undergraduate/index.php. The link to OWL is located on the right hand side of the screen. Follow the links to Western University.
How often do I need to check OWL?
As with your one45 schedule, OWL should be checked regularly. OWL is a way for our faculty to communicate what is expected of the students. You access all course material, reference notes, assignments, presentation information and other valuable information needed via OWL.
