The theme for this year's gala is "Innovations in Health Access". The night will include keynote speakers Dr. Loubani and Dr. MacDougall, delicious food and drinks, a silent auction, and student poster presentations. As in previous years, the majority of the funds raised from this gala will be going towards giving medical students interested in global health an opportunity to pursue medical electives. As well, a portion of the proceeds will be going to this year's charity, Health Partners International Canada.
Dr. Tarek Loubani, an emergency physician and LHSC, will discuss the use of 3D printers to create stethoscopes in the Gaza strip. Dr. Arlene MacDougall, a psychiatrist at LHSC, will discuss the importance and impact of her work in the Create Kenya project.
Tickets are available online at http://hfc.uwomeds.com.
Donations will also be graciously accepted.
