You must add a date when creating a news or event article in Cascade.

The automatic feed on your homepage, news index pages, and events index pages is designed to display your articles based on the start date of the news article or the event date of your event.  If you notice your news articles or events are not displaying in the correct order check to make sure you included the start date for news articles pages and the event date for event pages.
