Prof Shauna Devine teaching history of medicine to Schulich Medicine students in 2016-17

The history of medicine lectures to first-year medical students as well as the history of medicine selective offered to fourth-year medical students will be delivered by Prof Shauna Devine in 2016-17 while Professor Shelley McKellar is on sabbatical leave. 

Professor Devine will also serve as faculty facilitator for the Osler Society, a history of medicine club run by and for medical students, as well as lead other events in the History of Medicine Program at Schulich Medicine in the upcoming year. 

Professor Devine is author of the prize-winning book -- Learning from the Wounded: The Civil War and the Rise of American Medical Science (University of North Carolina Press, 2014) -- which examines the development of scientific medicine during the American Civil War and the impact of the War's events on American medicine.  Prof Devine maintains a robust research program and has taught medical and social science students at Duke University (2011-12) and Western University (2009-2011; 2012-2016).  We welcome Professor Devine to Schulich Medicine!
