Victor Lopez, Director of the Centro de Investigaciones Biomédicas y Psicosociales (CIBP), an NGO devoted to mental health research, is a psychiatrist and researcher at San Carlos, the National University. Victor trained at the NIMH and has been has been co-principal investigator of an IDRC GHRI-Teasdale-Corti, multi-country project on mental health program and coordinating project activities. We will be working with data obtained from a landmark, large prevalence national household mental health Survey( 1452 participants). The data collected using the CIDI 2.1 (Composite International Diagnostic Interview) included the link scale on perceived mental health stigma and some questions regarding violence. We will assist in work on the epidemiology of mental disorders. Our longer term interest will include comparative work on aboriginal population and learning about culture and health, variables such as stigma, resilience, and violence. Please contact Dr. Alder or Dr. Arya for more information on this project.
