My PhD research focused on assessing the epidemiology of fracture in adults with kidney disease (mild kidney dysfunction to kidney failure to kidney transplantation). Individuals with kidney disease experience bone mineral metabolism changes which can increase their fracture risk. To help decrease the health burden of fracture in the kidney disease population I assessed fracture prediction, incidence, and risk factors.

I am currently completing a Postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences and at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.  My current research interests include: fracture in adults with kidney disease, improving access to kidney transplantation, and improving outcomes in kidney transplant recipients. Specifically, some of the projects that I am currently working on include:

  • Secular trends, risk factors, and outcomes of early hospital readmissions in kidney transplant recipients
  • Incidence and outcomes of pregnancy in kidney transplant recipients
  • Pre-transplant dialysis duration and kidney transplant outcomes
  • Trabecular bone score and fracture risk in adults with reduced kidney function
