Degree Requirements

We offer both Doctoral and Master's programs. At the Master's level, we offer both full-time and part-time programs. Generally, a full-time student must visit the campus regularly and be employed less than 10 hours per week. A part-time student may take no more than 2 courses per term. Only a small number of candidates are accepted as part-time students.

Students are expected to maintain at least a B average throughout their program.

PhD Program Requirements

  1. complete 4.0 credits;
  2. attend at least 80% of Friday afternoon seminars in year 1 (seminars are now a milestone);
  3. write and pass a comprehensive examination (by the end of the 4th term);
  4. develop and successfully defend a thesis research proposal (ideally by the end of year 2);
  5. present their successful thesis proposal in the seminar series;
  6. complete and successfully defend the thesis project.

MSc Program Requirements

  1. complete 3.5 credits;
  2. attend at least 80% of Friday afternoon seminars in year 1 (seminars are now a milestone);
    (part-time students: 40% of seminars in each of years 1 & 2);
  3. complete and successfully defend the thesis project.
