Accredited CME Events Date Coordination Policy
-
Only one event per date/time slot being organized for a specific target group will be approved for CME credits by the CME office.
-
Confirmed dates for upcoming programs will be listed on the Upcoming Events calendar which is published on the CME web site at www.schulich.uwo.ca/education/cme . Faculty and staff who are involved in planning upcoming CME programs should review the calendar before selecting their program date(s).
-
The CME office should be advised of proposed program dates as soon as possible to ensure that the date is published on the web site. This information can be provided to the CME office in advance of sending in the application for course credits.
-
In cases where a second program is scheduled to be offered on the same date as a program which has already been posted on the CME calendar, the CME office will have no choice but to hold off on approving the second application until a non-competing date can be agreed upon . In these instances, all parties will be notified of potential conflicts.
-
If the competing program is accredited by an alternate accredited provider, it must not be promoted as a Schulich Medicine & Dentistry or a University of Western Ontario program.
-
Following earlier approved guidelines, the use of the Schulich and Western logos on accredited CME programs are restricted only to those programs that are approved for CME credits by the central Continuing Medical Education office.
-
The central CME office will begin to compile upcoming event dates for publication in a printed course calendar tentatively scheduled for release twice per year - in June for the period September through December, and in November for the period January through June. Advertising in our online and print course calendars will continue to be offered at no charge, and we encourage all departments to participate.
-
We ask all faculty to comply with this procedure to assist us in minimizing the scheduling of competing CME programs.
We ask for your full cooperation in assisting us to implement this policy. If you have comments or suggestions, please let us know.
