Message from Erica Hoe – VP Windsor, Hippocratic Council 2013-14

The new year began with an unexpected polar vortex, unusual for our normally mild winters. Yet, we endured as always – bundling up to re-enter the hospitals and the classrooms for our second term. January marked the successful completion of post-holiday exams for second years; and the fourth years finally reappeared in the Medical Education Building after visiting other schools for rotations. I think it’s safe to say, that despite the cold weather, they were happy to return home for a while.

Second term is an exciting time. It is a time of change and turnover for our Windsor family; we send off our fourth-years to their next step, and in turn, new medical applicants are interviewed to enter our program. This year’s medical interview weekends were held in March and were a great success. As in the past, students from the Windsor and London program participated and showcased the strength of the program.

We also look forward to the spring. Not only will the snow melt, but our student events calendar is also packed with exciting occasions. This year’s Tachycardia and Schulich Palooza occurred in early April. These two events showcase the variety of student talent and prove to the community we are not just nerds – we are nerds that sing and dance.

Finally, we look forward to our end-of-year Spring Formal, which will be held in Windsor this year. We are happy to host and to have our London friends visit us in May!

Lastly, but most importantly, congratulations to the Class of 2014 on their CaRMS match this year. We all aspire to be as successful when our turn comes!

Cheers,
Erica
