Celebrating Excellence
The Celebrating Excellence awards dinner and banquet took place on April 14 and was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work of the Schulich Medicine & Dentistry - Windsor Program faculty, staff and students, whose tremendous efforts are essential to the Program’s success.
A spirit of goodwill and celebration was enjoyed by all in attendance.
A highlight of the evening was the heartfelt presentation of the inaugural Dr. Colin Nisbet Award, presented to Andy Liu, a graduating student who demonstrates a proficiency and passion for emergency medicine. Called a perennial student favourite and mentor, Dr. Nisbet’s commitment to emergency medicine and the Windsor community inspired the creation of the award. He was unable to attend the event, but is doing well and in good spirits. 10 of his colleagues who personally committed to establishing the award were on hand to honour Dr. Nisbet.
Recipients of the Awards of Excellence and Family Medicine Postgraduate Awards were also recognized for their contributions to Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. Congratulations to Andy Liu, Dr. Andrew Petrakas, Catherine Rankin, Dr. George Wong, Deborah Curran, Anna Farias, Dr. Ed Roberts, Anurag Bhalla, Yifan Li, Abdul Naeem, Dr. Paul Ziter, Dr. Shael Liebman, Dr. Vince Ruisi and Dr. Valerie Hill.
A special presentation from the graduating Class of 2014 closed out the evening. A signed photo of the 38 students was presented as a gift to Dr. Gerry Cooper, Associate Dean, and photos from their four years with the Windsor Program were featured in a funny and touching commemorative video.
