    Celebrating faculty and staff excellence

    More than 300 faculty and staff gathered to recognize the outstanding contributions of their peers who were honoured with the Dean's and Schulich Awards of Excellence at the annual event.

    London Health Research Day once again attracted nearly 400 trainees for a full day of poster and platform presentations, as well as lectures. Dr. Janet Smylie presented The Lucille & Norton Wolf Health Research Lecture and was one of xx speakers during Exchange a new event focused on equity, diversity and inclusivity.

  • decorative imageDr. Vladimir Hachinksi awarded 2018 Killam Prize
    Dr. Hachinski is the sixth Western University researcher to receive this honour, which recognizes the career achievements of eminent Canadian scholars and scientists actively engaged in research, whether in industry, government agencies or universities.The Prize is the highest honour for research from the Canada Council of the Arts.

  • Parliamentary Secretary for Science meets with faculty, trainees and research staff
    Kate Young joined David Litchfield, PhD, and a team of trainees at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry this week to tour the Functional Proteomics Facility. She took part in a hands-on robotic instrumentation demo, and learned about the field of synthetic biology.

  • Biomedical Research Facility update
    Planning for the new facility has been underway since the fall of 2016, and it is expected that the new facility will open in 2021. HDR Architecture Associates along with engineering firms Vanderwesten & Rutherford Associates and HH-Angus have been selected for the project and the design phase is underway.

  • Elentra ME System Implementation Update

  • Celebrating science with the community
    Trainees, faculty and staff supported a number of community outreach activities in April and May to showcase the exciting world of science and inspire the next generation.

  • Shawn Li, PhD renewed as Canada Research Chair
    As part of the renewal, Li had his Canada Research Chair in Molecular and Epigenetic Basis of Cancer renewed and moved from a Tier 2 to a Tier 1.

  • Indigenous convocation ceremony
    On April 6, Drs. Madeline Arkle and Amanda Sauvé, Medicine Class of 2018 from Schulich Medicine & Dentistry participated in the annual Indigenous graduation ceremony that the University hosts.

  • Faculty and students inspired by advocacy at Hungry for Change Gala
    In Uganda, Adriana Cappelletti and Rachel Loebach witnessed firsthand the effects poverty, government corruption and labour disruptions can have on women and children. With a desire to raise awareness about their experiences and reinforce the value of global health, they made a moving presentation at the recent Hungry for Change Gala.
