Congratulations to Dr. Reena Khanna on receiving the Rising Star Award from Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. Dr. Khanna is developing clinically and scientifically relevant measures to assess disease activity in inflammatory bowel disease clinical trials. Nominated by their fellow scientists, recipients of the Rising Star Award are innovative and productive leaders who have made an outstanding contribution to supporting Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s mission.

Congratulations to Dr. Renato Natale, recipient of the Ontario Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (OSOG) Award. The award recognizes Ob/Gyns in Ontario who have made outstanding contributions to women’s health care. Read more.

Congratulations to Moira Stewart, PhD, recipient of the 2017 Maurice Wood Award for Lifetime Contribution to Primary Care Research from the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG). Stewart, renowned for her work in primary care, is a Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine and the department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, where she led an interdisciplinary team of researchers for 15 years. Congratulations to Sarah Svenningsen, PhD, post-doctoral fellow at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and McMaster University, on receiving the John Charles Polanyi Prize, presented by the Council of Ontario Universities. The award recognizes outstanding researchers in early stages of their career who are continuing to postdoctoral studies or have recently started a faculty appointment at an Ontario university. Congratulations to the team of trainees including Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry student Michelle Quaye who took home top honours at Western's World's Challenge Challenge for CREATE Kenya - an idea that uses entrepreneurship as means to support people with mental illness. The students will now prepare to compete in the International World’s Challenge Challenge, held at Western next June, with a top prize of $30,000. Read more.
