Kicking off with pomp and circumstance

Schulich Dentistry’s 50th anniversary is off to an exciting start. The year-long festivities, taking place to mark the milestone year, were launched at the Kickoff Celebration earlier this month.

A spirited group of alumni, faculty, staff and students gathered in the Great Hall to connect with colleagues and friends, and celebrate Dentistry’s tremendous 50 years.

Well-known musician Rick McGhie kept toes tapping throughout the evening with familiar tunes from across the decades.

Dr. Michael J. Strong, dean, welcomed guests and highlighted the work underway by the Dental Renewal Committee to build Schulich Dentistry into North America’s premiere dental school.

Dentistry’s Interim Director, Dr. Richard Bohay, reflected on the School’s important achievements and outlined the plans for the coming months of Anniversary festivities.

“The 50th Anniversary provides us the opportunity to remember the contributions of our founders, celebrate our achievements and innovations, and recognize the countless accomplishments of our faculty, staff, students and alumni,” he said.
