Alumni Announcements

Sara Gray, MD'99, critical care and emergency medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital; Samir Sinha, MD'02, Director of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital; and Gordon Sussman, MD'77, Director of Sussman Allergy and Immunology Clinic, have been named three of Toronto’s top physicians by fellow Toronto doctors.

Surinder Singh Khurana, DDS'06, was one of the winners of RBC’s 2014 Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award.

Samir Sinha, MD'02, was the 2014 recipient of the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences Honorary Diploma. He was also named one of the 50 Most Important People in Canada by Maclean’s Magazine.

Peter Pisters, MD'85, was appointed President and CEO of University Health Network (UHN), effective January 1, 2015. He was also named one of the 2014 Toronto’s 50 Most Influential People by Toronto Life.

Anne Fanning, MD'63, won the Canadian Medical Association’s highest honour, the Frederic Newton Gisborne Starr Award. Andrea Di Sebastiano, PhD'13, has been awarded the 2014 Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award.

David Hackam, MD'92, has been appointed Pediatric Surgeon-Chief at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.

Ted Osmun, MD'79, receives Canada's 2014 Family Physicians of the Year Award.

John McDonald, MD'75, was the recipient of a Bright Lights Award from the Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario for his work providing inter-professional health care.

Devkumar Sainani, PhD'96, Chair of the Ontario Trillium Foundation in Toronto, is a recipient of the Ontario Newcomer Champion Award in the Promoting Cultural Heritage category.
