Director
Dr. Bhagirath Singh is the inaugural Director of CHI and his term will be for three years renewable. Dr. Singh is a Professor of Microbiology and immunology at Western, former chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at UWO, and founding Scientific Director of the Institute of Infection and Immunity of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the public funding body for health research in Canada.

Associate Director
Dr. Singh will be assisted in his role as Director by Dr. Joaquín Madrenas who will act as Associate Director. Dr. Madrenas is a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, and Medicine at Western and holds a Tier I Canada Research Chair in Immunobiology. He is Head of Immunology at the Robarts Research Institute, and led the establishment of the FOCIS Centre of Clinical Immunology and Immunotherapeutics, a centre that linked clinicians and scientists with interest in immune-mediated diseases, and that provided the foundation upon which CHI was established.

Administrative Officer
Bethany Heinrichs is the Administrative officer for the Centre for Human Immunology. Bethany holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Before joining the Centre, Bethany was an Administrative officer for the Institute of Infection and Immunity (III) of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) at the University of Western Ontario. She coordinated New Investigator forum, Canadian Microbiome Initiative and "Microcosm” newsletter for III. She has considerable experience in interaction and work with investigators and stakeholders in infection and immunity.

Governing Council
The centre will have a Governing Council, chaired by the Dean of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry or his/her delegate. The membership of this Council will include, in addition to the Director and Associate Director of the CHI, the UWO VP Research (or delegate), the chairs or their representatives from the departments of SSMD represented in the membership of the CHI (Microbiology and Immunology, Medicine, Surgery), the Scientific Director (or his/her representative) of the LHSC/Lawson, and the Director of Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion (or his/her representative). This Council is expected to provide input into the operation of the CHI regarding issues of space allocation, equipment, multi-investigator grant initiatives and other institutional opportunities.

Scientific Advisory Board
The CHI will have an international Advisory Board that will provide scientific and strategic advice to the Centre. This Board will include scientific leaders in the areas represented in the operation of CHI. Members of this board will be chosen by the Governing Council and will meet at least once a year.
