Research Areas
The Centre for Human Immunology is the first human and translational immunology centre in Canada that integrates basic research, clinical research, public health research and related policy formulation to promote and preserve a health immune system to deal with infections, inflammation and immune-mediated diseases.
A better understanding of the human immune systems will help:
- Design better vaccines against infections and cancer
- Develop new therapies for protection from allergies and autoimmune diseases such as childhood diabetes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis and diseases caused by inflammation
- Improve organ transplantation
-
Provide information and evidence-based advice for public health policies to Canadians to deal with infections, safe food and water, vaccines, and organ donations, as well as to promote and protect health through our immune system
