Dr. Philip Jones

Associate Professor

 
Dr. Phil Jones provides anesthesia care at 
University Hospital (London Health 

 

Sciences Centre) and St. Joseph's Hospital (including the Regional Mental Health Centre). He also supervises and trains medical students, anesthesia residents, and fellows. In addition, Dr. Jones work as an intensivist in the Cardiac Surgical Recovery Unit. 
 
At University Hospital, the Department of Anesthesia provides perioperative services for the following surgical disciplines: cardiac surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, urology, and plastic surgery, and Dr. Jones is an active clinical leader and participant in all of these areas. 

Honours

The Department would like to recognize and congratulate Dr. Philip Jones for his completion of a Masters in Clinical Trials from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, of the University of London, London, England.

Dr. Jones graduated with distinction, receiving the University’s “150th Anniversary Achievement Award”, which takes in to account the final marks from all of the program courses, is awarded to the top student in the program. Congratulations Dr. Jones, on this momentous academic achievement. (2011).

Current Research

Dr. Jones is currently undertaking research with a focus on:

  • airway devices,
  • TEE (right heart function and tissue Doppler),
  • and outcomes following cardiac surgery (with particular attention to the role of anesthetic agents/interventions as a determinant of outcome).

His future interests include performing large multi-centre randomized clinical trials in anesthesia and cardiac critical care.
