Marriott on the Falls Hotel, Niagara Falls Pre-Conference Workshop $600/participant Pre-registration required Perioperative, Hands-on Point of Care Ultrasound Course (POCUS)

This one day course is targeted to introduce any anesthesiologist to the practice of perioperative point of care ultrasound. These will include relevant application of: cardiac, lung, gastric, airway and FAST Ultrasound. All instructors are experts from across the country. The course is fully hands-on and will require completion of online learning pre-course and postcourse tests. Scans will be performed using a wide variety of equipment on healthy volunteers. Image interpretation will be practiced on real US images and simulators.

Pre-workshop reading and evaluation required.

Patients with LVAD Going for Non-cardiac Surgery As more and more patients are treated with Left Ventricular Assist Devices, they present for noncardiac surgery with increasing frequency.

In this interactive session, we will discuss the anesthetic management of patients with LVADs going for non-cardiac surgery.

This session will review the anatomy and motion of the normal Cspine and the movements that occur during intubation. In addition, we will also discuss the clinical implications of various disorders.

Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia Workshop: Essential Upper and Lower Extremity Blocks This workshop will explore indications and standard ultrasound guided approaches to common essential peripheral nerve blocks of the upper and lower extremity for anesthesia and analgesia on live models. Brachial plexus approaches will include Interscalene and Axillary brachial plexus blocks. Lower extremity approaches will include femoral nerve, adductor canal and popliteal sciatic nerve block.
