Department Faculty and Fellows teach state-of-the-art Perioperative Transthoracic (TTE) and Transesophageal (TEE) Echocardiography to Medellin, Colombia.

It was the first workshop of its kind for the city of Medellin, Colombia, and our faculty and fellows were on hand as expert instructors and speakers. From Nov 17-18, 2017, Drs. Ivan Iglesias, Mauricio Giraldo, Marta Berrio (Fellow), Luz Maria Lopera (Fellow), Hilda Alfaro, Isabel Arias (Fellow), and Nelson Gonzalez, led the event as experts in the field of perioperative echocardiography. **Learn more about our Fellowship Program

Sponsored by Sonoart, and in association with Western University and the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, the workshop consisted of two days of theoretical sessions and hands-on sessions with real patient models and a TEE simulator. More than forty anesthesiologists and residents attended the event.

On behalf of the entire Department, we would like to congratulate our faculty, fellows and their colleagues for leading a successful workshop on Perioperative Echocardiography. Although this was the first workshop of its kind, we are certain that it will not be the last!
